Psalm 137
By the rivers of Babylon,
There we sat down and wept,
When we remembered Zion.
Upon the willows in the midst of it
We hung our harps.
For there our captors demanded of us songs,
And our tormentors mirth, saying,
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion.”
How can we sing the LORD’S song
In a foreign land?
There we sat down and wept,
When we remembered Zion.
Upon the willows in the midst of it
We hung our harps.
For there our captors demanded of us songs,
And our tormentors mirth, saying,
“Sing us one of the songs of Zion.”
How can we sing the LORD’S song
In a foreign land?
If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
May my right hand forget her skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth
If I do not remember you,
If I do not exalt Jerusalem
Above my chief joy. . .
YES! YOU get it! You get that deep within our souls, even as we rejoice before YHWH and meet with Him during His appointed times, that there is an element of sorrow too. I have been trying to find those very verses to share with a friend about these days feeling so bittersweet to me. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOne day... Yah reminded me that one day, in that day, we will be regathered, what great joy it will be then! Maybe next year... in Jerusalem =) ... until then, we wait with great longing.
ReplyDeleteLove you, Dear Michelle
